The public comment period will run through June 14, 2021. Public comments should address if the UMP conforms to the guidelines and criteria of the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan (APSLMP).
Fish Creek Pond Campground is a State-owned, Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) operated public facility situated on Fish Creek Pond. The campground is located on State Route 30, 12 miles northeast of Tupper Lake in the Town of Santa Clara, Franklin County. Fish Creek Pond Campground is a large and popular campground which offers visitors forested campsites along a natural sand shoreline with water access for many of the campsites. Visitors can enjoy pristine rivers and ponds accessible to both motorized and non-motorized boats.
In addition to camping, Fish Creek Pond Campground offers a variety of recreational opportunities including fishing, picnicking, swimming, bicycling, educational programs, hiking and boating. Amenities include a beach, playground, boat launch, hot showers, flush toilets, trailer dumping station, firewood sales, volleyball and basketball areas. Boat and canoe rentals are available at the adjacent Rollins Pond campground.
The Department of Environmental Conservation proposes fifteen actions including:
- Campsite restoration;
- Reconstruct roads to accommodate two-way traffic and repave;
- Continue shoreline stabilization;
- Construct parking lot at Floodwood trailhead;
- Replace bathhouse;
- Relocate and reconstruct boat launch in day use area, and
- Improve bike path.
