RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency will hold its monthly meeting at its headquarters in Ray Brook on Thursday, May 16th and Friday May 17th, 2019. Please use http://www.apa.ny.gov and click Live and Archived webcast from the News and Activities list to watch the meeting.
On Thursday at 9:00 a.m., the Full Agency will convene for Executive Director Terry Martino's monthly report.
At 9:30 a.m., the Regulatory Programs Committee will consider approval for improvements proposed by the Olympic Regional Development Authority at the Olympic Jumping Complex located in the Town of North Elba, Essex County. The project involves construction of a new four-cable zip line and modifications to previously authorized improvements.
The committee will also be briefed by Agency staff on the successful implementation of telecommunication and emergency service projects inside the Adirondack Park.
At 11:15 a.m., the State Land Committee will come to order to determine Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan conformance for Volume 1 of the Generic Travel Corridor Unit Management Plan and for the Hammond Pond Wild Forest Unit Management Plan.
At 1:30 p.m., Park Ecology Committee will hear informational presentations from the Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program. Brendan Quirion, Erin Vennie-Vollrath and Zachary Simek will highlight 20 years of program success protecting the Adirondacks from invasive species. APA staff Leigh Walrath and APIPP staff Erin Vennie-Vollrath will brief the committee on a new Citizen Science Program for Aquatic Invasives.
The committee meeting will conclude with an update from Dr. Eric Holmlund from Paul Smiths College on mitigation efforts underway at the Adirondack Watershed Institute regarding aquatic invasive species pathways and vectors.
On Friday morning at 10:00 a.m., the Public Awareness and Communication Committee will host a presentation marking the 30th anniversary of the Summit Steward Program. Summit Steward Coordinator Kayla White will provide an overview of the accomplishments and mission of this important ongoing effort to protect alpine habitat through education, trail work, and research.
At 11:00 a.m., the Full Agency will convene to take any necessary actions and hear member and Local Government Review Board comment.
