December 2018 APA Board Meeting Agenda


RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency will hold its monthly meeting at its headquarters in Ray Brook on Thursday, December 13th and Friday December 14th, 2018. Both meetings will begin at 9:30 a.m.

On Thursday at 9:30 a.m., the Full Agency will convene for Executive Director Terry Martino's monthly report.

At 10:00 a.m., the Regulatory Programs Committee will consider approval for a forest management project proposed by Lyme Timber Company. The project site is in the Town of Tupper Lake, Franklin County. The project involves a proposed timber harvest on 643-acre of a 4,656-acre parcel in Rural Use and Resource Management land use area. At 11:15 a.m., the State Land Committee will come to order to consider authorizing a public comment period regarding State Land Master Plan conformance for proposed Ski Trail Guidance. The guidance focuses on the development and maintenance of cross country ski trails on the Adirondack Forest Preserve.

At 1:00 p.m., the Park Ecology Committee will hear a presentation from Dan Josephson from Cornell University. Mr. Josephson will discuss the impacts of acid precipitation, climate change and non-native fish introductions on native fish in the Adirondack Park.

At 2:00 p.m., the Park Policy and Planning Committee will convene and deliberate the Agencys proposed draft Renewable Energy Production, Supply and Conservation Policy.

At 2:45 p.m., the State Land Committee will reconvene to determine State Land Master Plan conformance for a proposed amendment to the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan. The amendment pertains to the Travel Corridor definition, guidelines, management and use.

On Friday morning at 9:30 a.m., the Public Awareness and Communication Committee will convene for perspectives from private forest landowners. John Bartow, Executive Director for the Empire State Forest Products Association will detail the National Woodland Owners Survey. Mr. Tim Burpoe from the Molpus Woodlands Group will provide an overview of their current timber management practices and involvement in the NYS Department of Environmental Conservations Easement Program.

At 11:15 a.m., the Full Agency will convene to take any necessary actions and hear member and Local Government Review Board comment.
