Lake George Beach and Battlefield Park UMP Public Comment Period

RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) and the Lake George Park Commission (LGPC) are holding a joint public comment period to solicit comments for the Lake George Battlefield Park Unit Management Plan. Public comment will be accepted until May 3, 2018.

The Lake George Park Commission is proposing to build a new structure to house their administrative offices and serve as a Historical Visitor Interpretive Center. The facility would be located on Fort George Road in the Village of Lake George, Warren County. The existing structure was designed as a residential house and does not properly serve the needs of the Lake George Park Commission. It is also highly energy inefficient.

The new Lake George Visitor Interpretive Center (LGVIC) would occupy the entire basement floor of the new building. There will be a walk-out basement style separate entrance which faces the Park's fields and major attractions such as the Father St. Joques monument and the statues across Fort George Road. The LGVIC would use educational displays, panels and artifacts to tell the story of the history of the Lake George Battlefield Park and related historic events in the Lake George region.

The proposed unit management plan is available online at http://www.lgpc.state.ny.us/

Please address all written comments pertaining to the proposed activities and their conformance to the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan to:
