July 2017 APA Board Meeting Agenda


RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) will hold its monthly meeting at its headquarters in Ray Brook, NY on Thursday, July 13th, 2017. Please use http://www.apa.ny.gov and click Live & archived webcast from the News & Activities list to watch the meeting.

The Full Agency will come to order Thursday at 9:00 a.m. for Executive Director Terry Martino's monthly report.

At 9:30 a.m., the State Land Committee will consider if the Buck Pond Campground and Caroga Lake Campground Unit Management Plans (UMP) conform to the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan. The committee will also deliberate conformance for proposed amendments to the Blue Mountain Wild Forest, Jessup River Wild Forest and Siamese Ponds Wilderness UMPs.

At 11:00 a.m., the Regulatory Programs Committee will consider authorizing the renewal of a general permit issued to regional and municipal utility companies within the Adirondack Park to allow for the replacement of utility poles in wetlands and/or the establishment of temporary structures in wetlands to access utility poles.

The committee will also consider approval for a variance request to construct an additional 100 square foot deck and add caissons and tiebacks to support two previously approved decks. The project site is located on Lake Placid in the Town of North Elba, Essex County.

At 1:15 p.m., the Park Ecology Committee will be briefed by Dr. Eric Holmlund, Director of the Paul Smiths College Watershed Stewardship Program on the Adirondack Watershed Institute Stewardship Program. Dr. Holmlund will detail the boat launch stewardship program and discuss aquatic invasive species invasion pathways and waterway linkages in the Adirondack Park.

At 2:15 p.m., the Public Awareness and Communication Committee will hear an overview presentation on the status of the strategic visioning work conducted over the past six years under the leadership of Dave Mason and Jim Herman.

At 3:30 p.m., the Full Agency will come to order for committee reports, Local Government Review Board, public and member comment.
