RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) will hold its monthly meeting at its headquarters in Ray Brook, NY on Thursday, June 9 and Friday, June 10, 2016. Please use http://www.apa.ny.gov and click Webcasting from the Contents List to watch the meeting.
The Full Agency will come to order at 9:00 a.m. for welcome remarks and public comment on matters not before the Board.
At 9:30 a.m., the Regulatory Programs Committee will consider a variance request to add a lakeside covered deck and patio onto a pre-existing commercial building within the 50-foot shoreline setback area of Mirror Lake. The project site is located on Main Street in the Village of Lake Placid, Essex County. The committee will also consider a material change to Permit 2005-318 to install additional panel antennas and remote radio heads on the existing 90-foot-tall guyed tower.
At 11:15 a.m., the Legal Affairs Committee will convene for a presentation from Agency legal staff on ongoing regulatory reform efforts. Staff will overview proposed revisions to the APAs State Environmental Quality Review Act ("SEQR") rules. Proposals for consideration include: elimination of rules that duplicate the Department of Environmental Conservation's SEQR rules; update and clarify APA's lists of Type 1 and Type 2 projects; and (3) add rules necessary for APA-specific implementation of SEQR.
At 1:00 p.m., the State Land Committee will hear presentations from the Department of Environmental Conservation on the Eighth Lake, Lake Durant, Limekiln Lake and Cranberry Lake Campground Unit Management Plans (UMPs). The Board will consider authorizing a public comment period for State Land Master Plan (SLMP) conformance issues for these UMPs. A SLMP conformance period will run simultaneously with the Department's comment period for the Cranberry Lake Campground UMP. The Board will also consider SLMP conformance for an amendment to the Hammond Pond Wild Forest UMP and hear an informational presentation on proposed amendments to the Moose River Plains Wild Forest UMP.
At 3:15 p.m., the Economic Affairs Committee will come to order for a briefing from the Essex County Industrial Development Agency. Co-Directors Carol Calabrese and Jody Olcott will highlight a new Park-wide effort to attract and grow businesses in the Adirondack Park. They will also bring the Board up to date on the current status of the Countys APA pre-approved commerce parks.
On Friday morning at 9:00, Executive Director Terry Martino will give her monthly report.
At 9:30 a.m. the Park Ecology Committee will hear a presentation from the Lake George Association (LGA). Executive Director Walt Lender and Project Manager Randy Rath will detail the role of the LGA and describe important projects undertaken to protect Lake George.
At 10:30 a.m., the Full Agency will come to order for committee reports, Local Government Review Board, public and member comment.
