RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) will hold its monthly meeting at its headquarters in Ray Brook, NY on Thursday, February 12 and Friday, February 13. Please use http://www.apa.ny.gov and click Webcasting from the Contents List to watch the meeting.
The Full Agency will come to order at 9:00 a.m. for Executive Director Martino's monthly report. The Executive Director will present the Agency's 2014 Annual Report to the Board. Following Ms. Martino's presentation, the Board will reflect on last years accomplishments and strategize on the year ahead.
At 11:00 a.m., the Regulatory Programs Committee will convene to consider Franklin County Department of Emergency Services request to replace an existing 200-foot-tall tower with a 180-foot-tall self-supporting lattice tower. Ten emergency communication antennas will be mounted to the new tower at various heights. The project site is located in the Town of Ellenburg, Clinton County.
At 1:00 p.m ., the Regulatory Programs Committee will reconvene to consider approval for the following: a timber harvest proposal from Lyme Timber Company for lands in Long Lake, Hamilton County; construction of a 19,000-square-foot commercial retail building submitted by DMK Development/Tractor Supply for a site in Ray Brook (Town of North Elba), Essex County, and a shoreline variance request to increase the height of an existing single family dwelling located on the Great Sacandanga Lake in Northampton, Fulton County.
At 4:30 p.m. the Administrative Committee will deliberate a proposed amendment to the Agency's Delegation Resolution which would authorize the Deputy Director, Regulatory Programs to approve minor variances.
On Friday February 13 at 9:00 a.m., the Park Ecology Committee will be briefed by Jen Kretser, Program Director of the Wild Center, on the annual Youth Climate Summit held at the Wild Center in Tupper Lake. Ms. Kretser will be joined by team members Tammy Morgan (Lake Placid High School Environmental Science teacher), Tom Dodd (Lake Placid IT teacher), Caroline Dodd (Senior, Student Leader - Saranac Lake High School), Ivy Huber (Senior, Student Leader - Saranac Lake High School), and Nick Saulpaugh (Junior Saranac Lake High School).
At 10:00 a.m., the Park Policy and Planning Committee will consider a request from the Town of Wilmington to reclassify three areas, totaling approximately 300 acres, from Rural Use and Low Intensity Use to Moderate Intensity Use. Agency staff will present a Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement and request the Board to authorize a Public Hearing on the matter. At 11:00 a.m., the Full Agency will come to order for committee reports, Local Government Review Board comment, public and member comment.
