RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at its Headquarters in Ray Brook, NY on Thursday November 13 and Friday November 14, 2014. Please use www.apa.ny.gov and click Webcasting from the Contents List to watch the meeting.
The Full Agency will come to order at 9:00 AM for Executive Director Martinos monthly report.
At 9:30 AM, the Regulatory Programs Committee will convene to determine approvability for a proposed shoreline structure variance request from the Town of Inlet, Hamilton County. The variance involves the construction of a two-story structure along the shoreline of Fifth Lake Outlet and Fourth Lake in the Towns Arrowhead Park. The structure would be used primarily for public events and the temporary storage of water craft.
At 10:45 AM, the Economic Affairs Committee will hear a presentation from Northern Forest Center Program Director Maura Adams and Adirondack Project Manager Leslie Karasin. They will brief the Agency Board on their Adirondack Model Neighborhood Wood Heat Initiative. The goal of the program is to demonstrate the potential for modern, efficient wood heat as a renewable energy source.
At 1:00 PM, the Park Ecology Committee will come to order for an update from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) regarding the challenges of managing the aquatic invasive plant Hydrilla. APA staff will then provide the Board with an overview of ongoing efforts between APA, DEC and APPIP to develop a rapid response plan to combat invasive species in the Adirondack Region.
At 3:15 PM, the Legal Affairs Committee will convene to consider delegating limited variance approval authority to the APAs Deputy Director of Regulatory Programs. Agency staff will also provide an informational presentation regarding ongoing revisions to the APAs Development in the Adirondack Park construction guidelines.
On Friday November 14 at 9:00 AM, the Park Policy and Planning Committee will convene for an informational presentation from APA staff regarding a map amendment request from a private landowner to reclassify approximately 12 acres of Resource Management to Moderate Intensity or Hamlet.
The meeting will conclude with a staff presentation regarding updates to the APA's GIS data and a demonstration of the interactive web mapping capabilities available to the public on the APA's website.
