MAY AGENCY BOARD MEETING AGENDA


RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at its Headquarters in Ray Brook, NY on Thursday May 8 and Friday, May 9, 2014. Please use www.apa.ny.gov and click Webcasting from the Contents List to watch the meeting.

The Full Agency will come to order at 9:00 AM for Executive Director Martinos monthly report.

At 9:30 AM, the Regulatory Programs Committee will convene to determine approvability for a Rivers variance to construct a single family dwelling 107 feet from the mean high water mark of the West Branch of the Au Sable River. The proposed site is located in the Town of Jay, Essex County on a 1±-acre vacant lot in the preexisting Au Sable acres subdivision. The committee will also consider approving High Peaks Distributings proposal, to expand by greater than 25 percent, its existing commercial use warehouse structure expansion. High Peaks Distributing is located in St. Armand, Essex County.

At 11:30 AM, the Full Agency will commemorate Earth Day and Arbor Day with a memorial tree planting in the Agency's Arboretum. This year the Agency will plant a tree in honor of Former APA Chairman Herman "Woody" Cole. Mr. Cole served as Chairman of the APA Board from 1984-1992. The public is encouraged to attend the ceremony.

At 1:30 PM, the Regulatory Programs Committee will re-convene to consider a shoreline setback variance request to construct a single family dwelling and detached garage within the 50 foot setback from the mean high water mark of Mirror Lake. The project site is located on an 0.3± acre property located in the Village of Lake Placid, Town of North Elba, Essex County.

At 2:30 PM, the Economic Affairs will hear a presentation from David Cilley. Mr. Cilley will provide an overview of his Saranac Lake business, St. Regis Canoe Outfitters. He will discuss the expanding tourism industry in the region.

At 3:30 PM, the State Land Committee will come to order for a first reading for the Bog River Complex Unit Management Plan (UMP) Amendment and the Cranberry Lake Wild Forest UMP Amendment. The Agency Board will be asked to authorize Agency staff to receive public comment on State Land Master Plan conformance for these UMP amendments. The committee will then hear final presentations on the Hurricane Mountain and St. Regis Mountain Fire Tower Unit Management Plans. The Board will determine if the UMPs conform to the State Land Master Plan.

On Friday, May 9 at 9:00 AM, the Local Government Services Committee will be briefed on the 2014 Local Government Day Conference.

At 9:30 AM, the Full Agency will come to order to hear a Community Spotlight presentation from Village of Lake George Mayor Robert Blais. Mayor Blais will overview his 40 years of serving as Mayor of the Village of Lake George.

At 10:45 the Full Agency will convene for committee reports, Local Government Review Board comment, public and member comment.
