ADIRONDACK PARK AGENCY APRIL 2013 MEETING AGENDA


RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at its Headquarters in Ray Brook, NY on Thursday, April 11, 2013. This month's meeting is one day only and will be webcast live. Please use www.apa.ny.gov and click Webcasting from the Contents List to watch the meeting.

The Full Agency will come to order at 9:00AM for Executive Director Terry Martino's monthly report. Ms. Martino will present the Board with a resolution in recognition of Earth Day.

At 9:30, the Regulatory Programs Committee will convene to determine approvability for a proposal from the Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks. The project involves the construction of an observation tower and a series of elevated platforms connected by bridged walkways. The project would be located on the Wild Center's property in the Town of Tupper Lake, Franklin County.

At 11:00, the Economic Affairs Committee will hear an informational presentation from Ursula and Michael Vaillancourt regarding their small business Sootbusters, LLC. Sootbusters is a local business that provides a full range of chimney related services. The company also offers tree work, wood pellet delivery, and clean-up services. Mr. and Mrs. Vaillancourt will highlight how small businesses can diversify offerings to maximize sales.

At 1:00, Assistant Professor Graeme Auld, Ph.D., Carleton University School of Public Policy and Administration will brief the Park Policy and Planning Committee on the history of and compare the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) forest certification programs. Following Dr. Auld's presentation, Agency staff will describe how these certification programs correlate with APA regulatory review obligations.

At 3:15, the Legal Affairs Committee will receive an overview of the Agency's proposed Transfer of Development Rights and Procedural Bill.

At 3:45, the State Land Committee will convene for an informational presentation on proposed amendments for the Whiteface Mountain Unit Management Plan.

At 4:30, the Full Agency will assemble to take action as necessary.

The meeting will conclude with committee reports, Local Government Review Board, public and member comment.
