RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at its Headquarters in Ray Brook, NY on Thursday, February 14, 2013. This month's meeting is Thursday only and will be webcast live. Please use www.apa.ny.gov and click Webcasting from the Contents List to watch the meeting.
The Full Agency will come to order at 9:00AM for Executive Director Terry Martino's monthly report. Ms. Martino will present the Board with the Agency's 2012 annual report.
At 10:00, The Regulatory Programs Committee will convene to determine approvability for a project involving the creation of a waste disposal area. Approximately 650 cubic yards of waste, generated by the demolition of the Town of St. Armand municipal garage, would be disposed at the project site. The proposed project would be located on a 25.3±-acre parcel of private land off Roosevelt Road in the Town of St. Armand, Essex County. The property is classified Moderate Intensity Use on the Adirondack Park Land Use and Development Plan Map.
At 11:00, the Committee will reconvene to consider authorizing General Permit 2012G-1 -Silvicultural Treatments for Sustainable Forestry in the Adirondack Park. The General Permit application would be limited to landowners who have active certifications in the Forest Stewardship Council or Sustainable Forestry Initiative programs. In addition, under the General Permit, the Agency would only approve legitimate sustainable forestry practices that fully comply with all APA statutory and regulatory requirements.
At 1:00, the Full Agency will come together for a Community Spotlight presentation on the Village of Saranac Lake, Essex/Franklin County. Village Mayor Clyde Rabideau will overview this "All American City."
At 2:00, the Economic Committee will hear an informational presentation on Wood Pellet Boiler Heating Systems. Saranac Lake Central School District Assistant Superintendent of Business Dan Bower and Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds Lee Daunais, will discuss the replacement of Petrova Elementary School's fuel oil heating system with a high-efficiency wood pellet boiler. ACT Bioenergy President Dave Dungate, whos company installed the system, will overview ACT Bioenergy's wood pellet boiler systems as well as discuss the emerging market for this product.
At 3:15, the State Land Committee will hear a presentation on Alpine Zone Vegetation in the Adirondack Park. Tim Howard, of the New York Natural Heritage Program, will brief the committee on the classification, protection, and future for alpine zone vegetation within the Park.
At 4:00, the Full Agency will assemble to take action as necessary.
The meeting will conclude with committee reports, Local Government Review Board, public and member comment.
