The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at its Headquarters in Ray Brook, NY on Thursday, October 11 and Friday, October 12, 2012. The meeting will be webcast live. Please use www.apa.ny.gov and click Webcasting from the Contents list to watch the meeting.
The Full Agency will convene at 9:00AM for Executive Director Terry Martino's monthly report.
At 9:30, the Regulatory Programs Committee will convene to determine approvability for a variance from the Agencys shoreline setback regulations. One Main on the Lake, LLC has requested a variance for the expansion of a structure located within 50 feet of the mean high water mark of Mirror Lake. The structure will also exceed 40 feet in height so a permit is required. The project site is located on Main Street in the Village of Lake Placid, Essex County.
The Board will consider a third renewal to allow Adirondack Wind Partner, LLC to continue to keep a temporary meteorological monitoring tower in place for two additional years. The tower is located off Pete Gay Mountain in the town of Johnsburg, Warren County.
The committee meeting will conclude with a status briefing of APA permits issued to control the invasive species Asian Clam.
At 1:00, Town of Keene Supervisor William Ferebee will present a Community Spotlight presentation. Mr. Ferebee will overview the successes and challenges facing this Essex County community.
At 1:45, the Park Ecology Committee will hear a presentation from Matthew D. Schlesinger, Ph.D., from the NYS Natural Heritage Program. Mr. Schlesinger will discuss the vulnerability of At-Risk Species to Climate Change in New York.
At 2:30, the State Land Committee will be briefed by APA Deputy Director for Planning, James Connolly on the State Land Classification Process. This is an informational presentation only. The committee will then hear a second reading of the Watson's East Triangle Unit Management Plan and will consider its compliance to the State Land Master Plan. The committee meeting will conclude with a presentation on the use of GIS for recording public trail use data.
On Friday morning at 9:00, the Public Awareness and Communication Committee will hear an informational presentation on aquatic invasive species in Lake George. Dave Wick of the Lake George Park Commission (LGPC) will detail the spread of aquatic invasive species in the lake and discuss how APA has engaged with LGPC and the Fund for Lake George to permit Asian Clam treatments.
The Committee will then be updated on the Lake Champlain Basin Program. Bill Howland, Manager of the Lake Champlain Basin Program, will provide a briefing on various Lake Champlain Basin Program initiatives.
At 11:00, the Full Agency will assemble to take action as necessary.
The meeting will conclude with committee reports, public and member comment.
