RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at its Headquarters in Ray Brook, NY on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 9:00AM. The Full Agency will convene at 9:00AM followed by Executive Director Terry Martino's monthly report. This month the Executive Director and agency staff members will present the 2011 Annual Report to the Board. The presentation will include a briefing on the Agencys Action, Coordination and Efficiency team which was implemented in 2011.
At 11:15, the Full Agency will discuss the Agency's 2011 accomplishments and provide guidance for 2012 program goals.
At 1:15, the Regulatory Programs Committee will consider approving the stocking of triploid sterile grass carp in Lake Eaton. The primary objective of the proposed project is to reduce the density of waterweed and bushy pondweed in order to improve the ecological, recreational and aesthetic values of Lake Eaton. Lake Eaton is a 2,247-acre water body located in the Town of Jay, Essex County.
At 1:45, the Park Policy and Planning Committee will deliberate North Country Partners, LLC's proposed map amendment to the Adirondack Park Land Use and Development Plan Map. The proposal involves 53 acres of private land located in the Town of Harrietstown, Franklin County.
At 2:45, the State Land Committee will consider Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan compliance for the Hoffman's Notch Wilderness Area Unit Management Plan. This unit is located in the Towns of Schroon, Minerva and North Hudson, Essex County. The Hoffman Notch Wilderness Area is 38,488 acres in size and offers outstanding opportunities for fishing, hunting, hiking, skiing and snowshoeing.
At 3:30, the Economic Affairs Committee will hear a presentation on the Lake Placid Pub and Brewery. Owner Christopher Ericson will discuss why he chose to locate his craft brewing company within the Adirondack Park as well as the potential for this industry to expand economic opportunities throughout the region.
At 4:15, the Legal Affairs Committee will hear a legislative update and be briefed on a State Administrative Procedure Act report related to existing Agency regulations.
At 4:45, the Full Agency will assemble to take action as necessary.
The meeting will conclude with committee reports, public and member comment.
