RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) will hold a legislative public hearing to solicit public comment on YMCA Camp Chingachgook's APA variance application 2009-174. Camp Chingachgook requests a variance from the shoreline restrictions of section 806 of the Adirondack Park Agency Act.
The variance site is located on the shoreline of Lake George along Pilot Knob Road in the Town of Fort Ann, Washington County on land classified under the Act as Moderate Intensity Use.
The applicant proposes to replace and construct a dock, deck, and operations management structures meeting accessibility criteria of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The facility will be used for camp operations including improved access to the lake for participants in the Y-Knot Handicapped Sailing Program. The new dock and structure requires a variance from the 50 foot shoreline structure setback applicable within a Moderate Intensity Use land use area.
The public hearing will commence on July 22, 2010 at 1:00 pm. The hearing will take place at the Town of Fort Ann Town Hall located at 80 George Street, Fort Ann, New York.
The application and supporting information are available for public inspection. Please contact Thomas E. Saehrig, the assigned Environmental Program Specialist, at 518-891-4050.
Written public comments on this application will be accepted until July 29, 2010. Please address all written comments to:
Mr. Tom Saehrig Environmental Program Specialist P.O. Box 99 Ray Brook, NY 12977
