RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) is accepting public comments on the Draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the APA and the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) regarding the review process for future DEC activities proposed on state easements on private lands inside the Adirondack Park. Public Comments will be accepted until August 2, 2010.
The draft MOU defines working relationships, provides guidelines for outlining new land use and development subject to APA review and establishes review protocols for future DEC projects proposed on private lands with State-owned conservation easements. The MOU also establishes procedures to ensure effective coordination and communication between APA and DEC on the development of Recreation Management Plans for easement lands, and APA review of significant recreational enhancement projects through the APA Act's Section 814 process. Section 814 requires all State agencies which intend to undertake any new land use and development on private property in the Park to give due consideration to the provisions of the Adirondack Park private land use and development plan.
The MOU document is available for review from the Adirondack Park Agency's website at http://www.apa.state.ny.us/
