FUN AND EDUCATIONAL EVENTS ON SATURDAY AT THE PAUL SMITHS VIC

PAUL SMITHS, NY - Saturday, May 8, will be a day of fun and learning at the Adirondack Park Agency's Visitor Interpretive Center at Paul Smiths. The day will begin with a training session led by Brian McAllister for the Adirondack All Taxa Biological Inventory. Participants will learn to identify Adirondack birds by sight and sound. Those who volunteer for this training will also be making a commitment to help with ATBI bird surveys in the future. This free training session will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Registration is required.

Also on Saturday, there will be an informal walk on the VIC trails beginning at 10:00 a.m. The walk will be led by the Adirondack Park Institute (API), the friends group for the VIC's. Registration is not required for this free program.

At 1:00 in the afternoon, the public is invited to relax in the VIC theatre with the Saturday Movie Matinee: Winged Migration. Shown during International Migratory Bird Day, this documentary from Jacques Perrin details the migration of several bird species. The program is free and registration is not required.

The Adirondack Park Agency operates two Visitor Interpretive Centers at Paul Smiths and Newcomb. The Paul Smiths VIC is located 12 miles north of Saranac Lake on Route 30. Call (518) 327-3000 for more information or log on to www.adkvic.org.
